Heard: New State, New Representative(s)

While touring the House Gallery, I overheard an intern speaking with a group of constituents.  The intern was describing the various functions and aspects of the House of Representatives.  One of the constituents asked what would happen if a new state was added.  The intern very casually explained that "whenever a new state is added, more Representatives are added to the House."  

Passed in 1911 and effective in 1913, P.L. 62-5 established that the House would consist of 435 Members (the current number of members in the House).   Four states have been added since 1911 ...
