Heard: Thesaurus, Please!

At a committee hearing, a number of interns were seated in the row in front of me. One girl in particular was loudly discussing whatever was on her mind: which school was best, the proper term for an intern ("hilltern"), etc.  But then, I witnessed her and another female intern craning their neck all around, awkwardly scoping out the whole room.  She went on to, again quite loudly, explain that, in DC, when you're looking for someone in the room, you have to do it "unobtrusively," by looking around in every direction.

Sorry, Ms. Hilltern, but blocking my view of the hearing and your loud volume is not "unobtrusive" in any way.
