Spotted: Soccer Mania
One of our stellar crop of interns is keeping a group of tour-bound constituents waiting to watch the end of the soccer game. At least this will be only the third time in two weeks one of our jewels makes your blog. What is wrong with these people? Could this experience mean any less to them? Sigh.

I side with the intern on this one.
ReplyDelete1) Your office hired this "stellar crop of interns", and since...
ReplyDelete2) Generally, the follower is only as good as the leader...
3) If they keep screwing up so much, maybe you should tell them something, because really...
4) If they don't care about the experience, they obviously don't seem to think it's important enough to care about.

--um, are you an intern too? I like the World Cup, but it's still not an excuse to not do your job. If it's really that important to you to watch games live, then take the goddamn day off of work and get over yourself while you're at it.
Where is their supervisor? Not saying it's acceptable, but if you don't tell them so, they're going to go on thinking it is, and you're going to go on having stories instead of functional interns.
ReplyDeleteWay to be passive aggressive
ReplyDeleteReally, anon @ 5:35. You honestly believe people need to be told to do their jobs instead of watching a sporting event on tv? That's laughable, really.
ReplyDeleteWorking on the Hill sucks. Just because you are unimportant doesn't mean you have to belittle the slaves.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you decided to pay them they would care. It's unpaid labor, not a "real job", and most of them are losing money because they are paying for housing while in DC. They can do whatever they want while still ensuring they are contributing to the office.
ReplyDeleteStop being so stuck up and telling interns to get responsibilities - they're paying for this experience, while you are getting paid. So suck it up.
VIVA LA FUTBOL!
ReplyDeleteThis blog was a lot funnier before interns started reading it and defending their behavior.
ReplyDeleteJust saying.
I'm a DC native, and it's been my experience that stuck-up, obnoxious interns become stuck-up, obnoxious staffers.
