I'm walking by one of the intern rooms and I heard these 4 people arguing inside. Not a fight but loud enough that I need to go inside and tell them to quiet them.
I go in and one girl, a bit of a troublemaker, is arguing with the others saying: "i'm not anorexic!" I ask, perplexed" what's going on?," she answers, pointing at the others in the room: "they keep asking me why am i so skinny and if i'm anorexic. I keep telling them I eat but i'm just skinny cuz i'm skinny.. bitches!"
Had to have a discussion with her about not using the "b" word in the office as well as not yelling it out.
How about having a discussion about not accusing someone of having an eating disorder?
ReplyDeleteI agree. She should not have been cursing, certainly, but they also should not be commenting on a fellow intern's weight. Especially if it is in a way she finds offensive.
ReplyDeleteOr one about how it's inappropriate to insult co-workers about their weight?
ReplyDeleteExactly. Bitches.
ReplyDeleteyeah seriously. did it even occur to you that she was essentially facing harassment? if a staffer received this kind of treatment from their peers -- who she is forced to interact with in order to work for you -- the peers would be liable to be fired for treating a co-worker this way. a lower standard is acceptable for interns?
ReplyDeleteAs above. Telling off somebody for using an inappropriate word instead of actually adressing the root cause of people acusing that somebody of having a serious phychological disorder seems to be extremely wrongheaded.
ReplyDeleteNext time try to look further then your lazy initial judgement of "a bit of a troublemaker"
