Heard: Chinatown?
Emerging out of the 9th & G (Gallery) exit at the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro stop a female intern, indignant and confused, looked around and commented to the rest of her pack, "How in the world is THIS exiting at Chinatown?!"

In fairness, Chinatown in DC is a "blink and you'll miss it" district of a few restaurants and a grocery store, so even on the other exit, that would have been an expected response.
ReplyDeleteI've lived in DC for 3 years, and "Chinatown" for 6 months. I say that all the time.
ReplyDeleteI think the girl's comment was fair, because the majority of DC's Chinatown is chain retailers and restaurants that simply have their names in Mandarin beneath the English. The Chinatown in NYC or San Fran or Boston were probably what she was expecting
