Heard: Thank You from an Intern

Avid reader of your blog, and at first as funny as it was I thought you were just a bitter staffer. As a graduate student and 2nd summer DC intern for a industry trade group I spend some time in hearings in the Senate/House.

I cannot believe the level of immaturity and lack of basic manners displayed by the Hill interns, perhaps being in a large group hearkens the interns back to middle school days but still this is no excuse. Keep up the good work!

  2. So basically you are saying thanks for giving you a chance to tell the world how great and wonderful and mature you are. Nice.

  3. My bitter comment: you can't seriously be a grad student with your writing skills. Jeebus.

  4. Intern who clearly doesn't know better:

Hill staffers ARE bitter. They're treated poorly by their bosses, so they in turn feel the need to treat their interns like crap. A more self-important, ungrateful concentration of mediocre talent the world has never seen. I'm a former intern looking for a job on the Hill, and I pray to God I don't get sucked into this hierarchical BS...

Really.. is this the level you want to sink to?

    That's just petty... grow up!

  8. I do not come to this site religiously from my cubicle 900 miles away to read postings from "former", "thankful", and "good" interns telling me about how much they are just normal/need a chance/dont suck. If i wanted to read about people that dont suck, i would be on mother theresa's wikipedia instead of reading a blog dedicated to the excesses of intern arrogance. Do you have a story about a fellow intern sucking? If so, please share. If not, see Bill above.

  10. I was probably a better intern then you ever were way to gloat about your own prowess when it probably isn't well deserved you jerk

  11. In all fairness, not all interns act like this. By your post, you imply that all interns are mannerless. I beg to differ.

Some interns do everything that they are told to do, and are only looking for experience. Some of us don't go out and drink every night and flash our intern IDs everywhere.

We all have to start somewhere, and for most this can be a stepping stone to greater opportunities.

It is time for people to realize that all interns are not bad. Some just give us a bad name.

  12. Ok, while I'm not a fan of Hill interns, some of you are sounding rather bitter and irate, therefore proving the poster's point. The stakes here are so small, so why do so many of you care so much?

  13. WOW. This reminds me of "everyone" and "driving"! Everyone thinks they are a good driver, when most are not.
